SUN 30 APRIL 06
SHIRE REDS 2
FRY CLUB COLTS 4
Our final game of the season which we needed to win to
finish a very commendable 3rd in the division. At last we had warm sunny weather!
A great
start to the game saw us take a 2-0 lead very quickly. Firstly James Boulton finished off a stunning move from a James Parsons
cross and the second was a great interception and finish from Craig Andrews.
Further chances were created as we absolutely dominated the first half. Both
James Boulton and Michael Payne were rarely troubled
in defence and the third goal was inevitable, although also bizarre. A corner
from the right was taken by Kyle Curtis whose inswinging
corner went straight inside the near post off the goalkeeper. To complete a
great first half good pressure from Mo Bouaziz led to
his shot rebounding off the post and he followed up to put the game virtually
beyond Shire.
The
second half though never quite lived up to the first as although we had a lot
of good possession, we lost our concentration a little and allowed frustration
to creep in. Shire pulled a goal back within 2 minutes of the re start with a great long range shot and soon scored a second.
The result though was never in doubt as Mo Bouaziz
had a close range shot saved by the keeper and then Jordan Knight right at the
end put his lob shot narrowly wide.
A result we thoroughly deserved on the first half performance. A pity we couldn’t match it in the second half as we could have doubled our tally. A great finish to the season though.
For the
seasons final Man of the Match award, myself and
Richard both agreed that James Boulton deserved it as
he really did play very well throughout the whole game.
